Tourism partners of Lake City and Hinsdale County stand behind our local Governments response to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

We know it's disappointing to postpone travel plans and hope to see you later this spring.  Lake City folks are keeping to themselves but still enjoying the outdoors.  We have our fingers crossed for a beautiful and busy summer in Lake City.

We are following recommendations for hygiene, sanitation and social distancing in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus.  The Silver Thread Public Health District and Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment have issued orders through April 8th that limit gatherings, close restaurant and bars to dine-in traffic, and discourage visitors to travel to Lake City or Hinsdale County at the present time.  This hard decision is made based on our extremely limited medical and response resources and isolated location.

We hope to see you here soon!  Be well.

Message for Residents Returning to Hinsdale County & Second Homeowners

Silver Thread Public Health District, Hinsdale County and the Town of Lake City are continuing to work on social distancing practices and ways to protect our community.  With the desire of second homeowners to come to our remote location, combined with spring break travels, we are facing a new challenge.    These instructions are intended to protect our residents, second homeowners, and visitors. Our goal is to keep everyone safe and well.

If you are considering traveling into the area, as a visitor or second homeowner, please reconsider your plans and stay home.  If you come to Lake City, Public Health requests that you self-quarantine for 14 days.  (Quarantine means stay out of contact with others outside your home even though you feel fine). We have grave concerns regarding the capacity of our community’s severely limited medical resources.  If you should fall ill when you are here or have any other medical emergency, it creates an undo load on our system that will compromise the general health and well-being of all of us.

If you are a Lake City resident returning from spring break vacation in the United States or internationally, please self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving home.   Please follow the recommendations of social distancing, hygiene and disinfecting.   Stay at home and work from home if possible.

State and local public health agencies request that Coloradans and visitors from other states and countries voluntarily cooperate with isolation and quarantine instructions.

Gunnison County has a significant number of cases of Coronavirus and travel to that area is highly discouraged.  Shopping, medical and other services are severely limited and many are unavailable.  Consider alternate means – such as online fulfillment – to address your essential needs.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Gov. Polis Secures Federal Loan Assistance for Colorado’s Small Businesses

Approval Unlocks Billions in Economic Recovery Loans for Small Businesses Impacted  by COVID-19

DENVER – Colorado small businesses impacted by COVID-19 can seek individual small business loans up to $2M as part of the Small Business Administration’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program. Small businesses throughout all 64 counties may seek SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans. Governor Jared Polis announced that Colorado’s application for federal disaster area designation has been approved.

“The economic impact of COVID-19 has been felt across our state. We are committed to protecting public health and safety and will continue fighting to ensure the pain that Colorado’s small businesses are feeling is limited. This critical designation allows small businesses in all 64 Colorado counties to seek federal recovery loans that can help them through this challenging time. I thank the Colorado federal delegation for their efforts to help unlock this assistance,” said Governor Polis.

The SBA Disaster assistance provides low-interest federal loans for working capital to Colorado small businesses that have realized economic injury from COVID-19. Funding was appropriated through the US congressional Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act.

“Colorado’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade is committed to helping our small businesses access these vital funds,” said Executive Director Betsy Markey. “Eligibility information, loan application links and emerging economic recovery resources can all be found at choosecolorado.com.”

“Small businesses are the fabric of our economy and their success is dependent on the ability to freely market products and services to communities across the state and world,” said SBA Regional Administrator Dan Nordberg. “Local small businesses are bearing the brunt of that impact and facing a severe decline in customer traffic.  SBA’s top priority is to assist businesses adversely impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and our Economic Injury Disaster Loans can be the working capital lifelines they need to weather this difficult time.”

Small businesses, private non-profit organizations, small agricultural cooperatives and small aquaculture enterprises impacted by COVID-19 can seek federal loans to pay key needs such as fixed debts, payroll, and accounts payable.
