Hiking the Fourteeners
If you are feeling hardy, there are six Fourteeners
(peaks over 14,000 feet in elevation) in the
immediate area, along with dozens of Thirteeners.
Trails to the Fourteeners are generally busier than
other trails.

Intense, but worthwhile, mountain journeys.

Horseback Riding
Wonderful journeys into the wilderness are possible
with horses or pack animals as companions. They
lighten the load and give us a different point of view
on the trail. Trailer your own animals or arrange for

Fishing Along the Trail
The ambitious angler finds plenty of opportunity
along the trail. Different waters have different
regulations and catch limits. Check the Department
of Wildlife’s annual fishing guide for up-to-date
information. Licenses, equipment, bait, guides,
advice, and lessons are available from local fishing
outfitters.
