Mother Nature & Wildlife

Lake City teems with wildlife, bright stars, and
wondrous nature.  Elk and deer are common.
Our valley is home to bald and golden eagles,
moose, marmots, bighorn sheep, lynx and
bobcats.  We even have our own species of
butterfly!  Because we are so far from light
pollution, stargazing is a sublime experience.
The relatively young San Juan Mountains are
jagged and stunning, but are very accessible
by dozens of trails.
