Armory Building 230 Bluff Street (corner of Bluff & Third Streets)
The Lake City Armory is a historic meeting hall that is still used for numerous community functions, and is located in the heart of Lake City. Many of the Town's Recreation Department programs are held here, and this building is the location of the Town of Lake City's offices, the Recreation Department office, the weight room, and the teen center. Facilities include restrooms and a sound system. Chairs and tables are available for use in the hall; please inquire. Reservations must be scheduled in advance. Town Park
The Town Park is located in Historic Lake City and is roomy enough to accommodate up to 1000 people depending on the event. Facilities include a seasonal restroom building, playground, water spigot, picnic tables and plenty of free downtown parking. Dogs are not permitted in this park. Lake Fork Memorial Park
The sizable Lake Fork Memorial Park is situated close to town at the confluence of Henson Creek and the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River. Facilities include a year-round restroom building with catering kitchen, softball field, soccer field, accessible fishing pier, skate park, pedestrian bridges, and easy access to downtown Lake City. Lake City Ski Hill
The Lake City Ski Hill is operated by the Town of Lake City. A 1000 ft. platter lift carries you to the top of four runs. The ski hill is a great place to practice your turns, on skis or snowboard, without spending tons of money. And, it's a fun and friendly place to spend a few hours and meet new people. Snowboarders and free-heelers are always welcome. Adult tickets are just $7, and kids can ski for $5.
The ski hill opens in the late autumn, depending on the snowfall, usually sometime between Thanksgiving and the second week of December. Hours of operation are: Saturday, Sunday, Monday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Lake City Ski Hill is located on Highway 149, one mile south of Lake City. Ice Rink
The Town of Lake City, with the help of volunteers, sets up a skating rink at the Town Park. The fire department floods the rink as soon as the weather is cold enough. Bring your own skates. For more information, call the Lake City Recreation Department at 970-944-5227.
Red Mountain Gulch Day Use Area
Located at the south end of Lake San Cristobal on County Road 30, the Red Mountain Gulch Day Use Area is a great location for your small picnic or large gathering. Facilities include several picnic spots, each with a picnic table and grill, plus a pavilion shelter with a large outdoor cooking grill. Restrooms are available seasonally. This picturesque area is close to the marshy end of the lake where many birds and other wildlife may be seen. For more information about this area, call Hinsdale County at 970-944-2225.
Wupperman Campground
Located on the east side of Lake San Cristobal, this county-owned public campground features 31 sites with excellent views of the lake. Various site lengths will accommodate RVs and/or tents. Water (in season), trash removal (in season), vault toilets, picnic tables, grills and fire grates, dump station (in season). No electricity. Cost is $15 per night. During the off-season when there are few, if any, campers, the campground is a nice place for a picnic or to fish from the shore.
Boat Ramp
A public boat ramp, dock, and parking area are located part way along the west side of Lake San Cristobal. Eight slips are available: two for day use and six which can be reserved long term, for a fee, by calling Hinsdale County at 970-944-231
