o Strengthen Chamber through recruitment, retention and expansion The LCHC Chamber of Commerce is responsible for these community events as well as operating the Silverthread Byway Visitor Center where all area chamber member business information is distributed.
The LCHC Marketing Committee and HC Lodging Tax Board is working in collaboration with the LCHC Chamber of Commerce to produce the Lake City/Hinsdale County Official Vacation Planner and the Official Tourism and Marketing website, www.lakecity.com. Below are a list of current tactics, implemented and paid for with Marleting Committee funds: 2011 Official Vacation Guide - 64 pages, full color, large pull-out map, events, Kid friendly activities, historic timeline, area information and business listings. 20,000 planers printed and distributed to all 10 Colorado State Welcome Centers, 12 surrounding area visitor center/Chamber of Commerces, local businesses, room binders and at the LCHC Visitor Center. Images, maps and content are obtained from visitors, Forest Service, BLM and other area professionals when possible including the Hinsdale County Historical Society and LC DIRT. As of 2012, the Chamber of Commerce will use membership fees and non-member advertising fees to finance the business directory portion of the Vacation Guide. www.lakecity.com - Official tourism and marketing website. Contains all area information, photos, business listings with photo galleries (if membership level allows), event information, weather, road conditions, Hot Deals and more. Average monthly hits are 9,000 since January 2011. We are the number one listing when searching for Lake City, Colorado (as well as typically the top 5 listings) Google ad campaigns - Ad content and target market vary depending on our seasons and event schedules. Ads are run when deemed necessary to promote area events and travel information to keep www.lakecity.com at top of search engine searches. Facebook Fan Page - 2,900 fans (as of early January 2012) and growing everyday. Event reminders, special deals, photos and encourage fan input and posting. This is our most direct communication with visitors that have been here already. Tripadvisor.com - We have our own tourism page where event, photos and specials are posted. Other area business have listings that are rated such as restaurants and lodging. My Lake City Adventure video contest - A video contest launched in June 2011 to get our visitors to post videos of their adventures in Hinsdale County and Lake City and promote word of mouth advertising. We will report on the results in October. A $500 prize will be given away and this contest will become an annual event with a new theme every year. Photo Submission - Encouraging visitors and residents to submit their own photos to be used in marketing tactics such as our vacation planner and online presence. This helps eliminate the costs of professional photography and encourages more word of mouth advertising by those that have contributed. Southwest Travel Region Member - We are members of this fairly new regional and state sponsored marketing effort with these counties - Archuleta, Delta, Gunnison, La Plata, Montezuma, Montrose, Ouray, San Juan and San Miguel. This entity maintains a website, www.swcolotravel.org, as well as produces travel planners that provide itineraries for our counties encouraging historic destinations. Room Binders - Binders are distributed into every lodging room with event information, restaurant menus and the Official Vacation Planner. Coloradoinfo.com - Magazine and online advertising pertaining to travel in Colorado. The chamber receives approximately 40% of it’s brochure requests via this website. Membership Information and Non-memebrship Options Testimonials from our members August 11, 2011 Angela & Kelli- Our 2011 business has been very good. Along with "a little" hard work, we contribute a great deal of our success to the fantastic job that the Chamber and the Marketing Board have provided. Janet and I could not be more pleased. We definitely want to get our membership information in before October 1st and take advantage of the 10% off.
