The High Country Market
- Open Year Round
Peter and Patty quit their government and corporate jobs in Austin, Texas to open The High Country Market in 2013. Their business continues to grow, and new items and services are offered with each passing year.
You will find organic and conventional produce on the shelves and in the commercial produce cooler. These products are delivered each week (2-3 times a week in the summer!) from United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI), Albert's Organics, USFoods, Core-Mark, and other Colorado farms when available.
Hand-made deli sandwiches are available on a daily basis. All of the sandwich meat and cheese is sliced at the store, and the vegetable toppings are fresh off of the delivery truck (click here to see the sandwich menu).
Got a hankerin' for some baked bread? No problem! You will find fresh baked bread in the basket near the check-out counter, and you can always call ahead to have a loaf saved for when you come off the mountain at the end of the day (click here to see the bread menu).
In addition to the many wonderful dishes that come out of the deli (click here for the full menu), The High Country Market offers a full line of groceries, dry and canned goods, chilled and frozen products, steaks, ice cream, and health & beauty products.
Local eggs are delivered each week from the Powderhorn Creek Ranch. These eggs come from happy free-range hens who are only fed USDA Certified Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified feed from Scratch & Peck Feeds.
On the shelves you will find many high-end brands such as Amy's, Back to Nature, Bubbies, Delallo, Evolution, Field Day, Imagine, Kevita, Kicking Horse, Kind, Muir Glen, Namaste, Organic Valley, Spectrum, Synergy, Tazo, and -- many more!
Need a quick bite to eat in the morning before hitting your favorite fishing hole? No problem! The High Country Market now offers a selection of grab-and-go breakfast items: homemade breakfast burritos, muffins, danish rolls, bagels, and of course -- HOT COFFEE!
Visiting the most remote area in the Lower 48 does not mean that you can not obtain fresh produce and healthy products. The High Country Market does not have everything that you would normally find at Whole Foods, but they offer a great selection that will feed your family while on vacation in Lake City and Hinsdale County.
